sorry, no image available• Born: 19 April 1978, Crespo, Argentina • Signed: 11 June 2004, from PSG • Fee: £6.9million • Other Previous Clubs: Newell's Old Boys, Valladolid, Sportin Lisbon (Loan) • Debut: 11 Sept 2004 v Bolton (A) Premiership • International Team: Argentina Born to a German father and an Italian mother, Heinze holds an Italian passport. Vallodolid loaned Heinze to Sporting Lisbon in 1998. He returned to Spain for two seasons before a move to Paris Saint Germain in 2001. He signed for Manchester United from Paris Saint Germain on 11 June 2004 for a fee of £6.9million, but fans had to wait three months to see him in action. Heinze played an integral part in Argentina's Copa America and Olympic campaigns, which meant he missed the start of United's 2004/05 season. A goal on his debut endeared him to the club's supporters immediately. His commitment and tough tackling quickly established him as a fans' favourite. Heartbreakingly, an injury against Newcastle in April meant he missed out on the FA Cup final against Arsenal.
