Time to go?
Refering to the former captain's lashing at his teammates, Roy Keane branded, a reported six teammates, "deadwood", suggesting that they are no longer required by the club. One of the few who were targeted by the former United captain was Darren Fletcher. This young, right-legged midfielder was once hailed by Fergi as the next David Beckham, but as present form suggests, he's a milestone away from the England captain. Now, this lad has risen from the United youth squard and has since broken into the senior squard, but ever since his first appearence for the club, he is still unable to impress. Maybe Roy's criticism of this midfielder is vindicated? Unlike the old knights of United, Scholes, Giggs, Keane, Beckham, Butt and so on, Darren is lacking the cutting edge of the game, so oftenly he knocks hopefull balls into the penalty area in a fashion not worth David Beckham, more often then anyone else, he gets knocked off the ball easier than any of his United counterparts, clearly lacking aggression and strength. Though young and full of pace and stamina, i think that if Manchester United wants to engage in a serious title challenge, they need a more complete midfielder. As for Roy keane's branding of Darren as "deadwood", i can see where Roy is coming from, though extremely harsh on the lad, to a certain extent, this midfielder is over rated.
"deadwood"?, maybe so, maybe not so, whatever the auguement, this lad is far from the finish artical. If cutting cost and winning trophies is the goal for the club this season and many more to come, maybe Darren should go on a loan spell and return when he is the man that Sir Alex spoke about.
Whats the fan's take? Deadwood?
