The Empire Will Strike back
Knocked out from the Uefa Champions League, third in the Barclays Premiership and twelve points adrift of leaders and league champions Chelsea, things have seem to have taken the turn for the worst for Sir Alex Ferguson and the Red Devil empire. The past month has also seen the departure of tenacious captain Roy Keane and his infamous lashing at his United colleagues which was undoubtly the catalyst to the breakdown of the relationship between him and the gaffer, Sir Alex. If there is to be a crisis at the club, it is unquestionably now. After producing two barren seasons, the club has reached breaking point. The Glazer affair has'nt made the situation any better, with the fans threatening to boycott matches. Five years ago, such a scenario would be a fantasy for premiership rivals, but now, it's harsh reality. The Old Trafford faithfull must be shaking thier heads in disbelief and wishing they still had the mercurial Best in the team, but such times have long past and we have to move on. Is this the end of the Red Devil era? Many say it is, however i beg to differ. The Empire will strike back, and whoelse better to lead the comeback then the great knight Sir Alex Ferguson, the luminary figure who has been at the helm for nearly two decades, the man who has seen glory and yet tasted the most bitter of defeats. At a time when his position as the manager is said to be unstable it is important to note that with every possible setback, Fergi's team returned with a vengence, the record speaks for itself, and at present the club is on a brink of a breakthough. Rooney and Ronaldo will only move from srtength to strenght, Park will improve his game and so will Fletcher, Richardson and co., so if the future looks bright for this youngsters, the future can only yield better for the club. This january's transfer window will further provide Fergi with the opportunity to strengthen the squard, and mount the serious title challenge the club officials spoke of at the start of the season. Will Sir Alex be able to recreate another great United? Only time will tell, and that's why he should stay on as manager of the Red Devils, he has done it before, thus he can do it again. With adequate resources, time and support, the return to glory is not far off, as so acknowledged by England's manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fergi's former right hand man, Steve McClaren. To those who wished a Manchester United comeback was never possible, the MU empire will strike back with more venom than ever.
